First-Cross Ewes at Narrandera hit $500

Coming off a fantastic season, there was an outstanding yarding of 2619 first-cross ewes at Narrandera which recorded a top price of $500.

Elders, Narrandera, agent Dom O’Mahoney reported a strong contingent of buyers and some were unlucky to miss buying the sheep they wanted.

“It was very strong at the top end but faded towards the end of the yarding,” he said.

The top pen of 150 not station mated (NSM) 14- to 15-month ewes was offered by AJ and CF Cumming, Coolamon, and sired by Gleneith Super Borders they weighed 71kg.

Their next two pens sold for $460 for 180 and $440 for 170.

Next in line was the pen of 180 NSM 14- to 15-month ewes sired by Gleneith Super Borders offered by the Kember family, Ganmain.

They sold a second pen of 105 for $472.

The Durnan family, Flying Pan Creek, Narrandera, also received $495 for their pen of 125 16-month ewes sired by Cadell Border Leicesters out of Riverina-bred Merino ewes..

North South Grazing Partnership, Narrandera, penned a run of 14- to 15-month ewes out of North Ashrose Merino ewes and sired by Bauer Border Leicester rams.

Their pen of 160 scanned empty and weighing 72.5kg sold for $480 while the second pen of 160 sold for $475.

P and M Burden, Narrandera, received $450 for their pen of 180 first-cross ewes weighing 78kg, 14-15 months and scanned empty.

The sale was conducted by Elders and Nutrien, Narrandera, and was interfaced with AuctionsPlus.
